CA to allocate 15 days to draft the constitution
ATHMANDU, JUN 09 – The Constituent Assembly (CA) is to allocate 15 days to the Constitutional Draft Committee to prepare the draft of the new constitution.
As per the Monday agreement reached among major political forces regarding the contentious issues of the constitution, the Constitutional Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee will present an integrated draft of the constitution to the CA. The draft will be prepared by the Draft Committee which would have a time of 15 days for so, CA Chairman Subash Nembang said while talking to media persons at his office Tuesday.
The CA chair said he has already informed top leaders of major political parties about the time the Draft Committee is getting to complete the task.
The CA chair has already held discussions about the CA’s further planning with Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula, CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli, leaders Jhalanath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal, UCPN (Maoist) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, leader Baburam Bhattarai and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal-Democratic Chair Bijay Kumar Gachhadar.
Summer session likely after June 25
The Parliament Secretariat has started preparations for summoning the summer session also known as budget session within this month. The government has planned to call the summer session sharply after the donor’s meet scheduled to be held on June 25. Speaker Subash Chandra Nembang was learnt to have already consulted with the PM regarding the plan of calling the summer session.
