JAJARKOT, APR 22 – Senior orthopedic surgeon at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) Dr Govinda KC reached swine flu affected Dhime VDC in Jajarkot district on Wednesday.
Dr KC, along with some medicines, reached Damdala and Dhime village in Dhime-1.
“The epidemic has spread across many villages here in the district. A high level investigation of the epidemic hasn’t been done. Experts should be brought for a study”, said Dr KC.
Likewise, he pointed out that study should focus on the root cause of the disease. He also said that he will reach out to the victims’ families and prepare a report based on a questionnaire. “Experts such as an epidemiologist should come to the disease affected areas to find out about the epidemic,” he said.
He said this was his third time visit to remote villages in the country to provide medical assistance.
Doctors following up the health condition of Dr KC, who had earlier staged a 12-day hunger strike demanding reforms in the country’s medical sector, had advised him against his decision to visit patients in Jajarkot as he has not completely recovered from the hunger strike.
