DHANGADI, APR 13 – Aba Cedric’s hat-trick spurred Far-western Football Club to a 4-0 win over Lumbini Football Club in the Red Bull National League here on Sunday.
The first win from five games saw Far-western climb to fifth in the nine-team league standings with four points. Lumbini also have four points but stay sixth on goal difference alone.
In the highly competitive first half Ananta Tamang provided the home team the edge with is 40th minute lead. With a goal up their sleeve Far-western went for more goals and their effort was dully paid when Cedric doubled the tally in the 49th minute. Cedric went on to add his second in the 69th and third in the 89th minute to complete his hat-trick, only the second of the campaign after Karna Limbu.
Far-western coach Kiran Shrestha was delighted with the result. “We could not convert the scoring chances in previous matches but the story was altogether today. We hope to continue with the winning momentum as the boys are motivated to fare well,” Shrestha said.
Lumbini coach Yam Prasad Gurung blamed lack of co-ordination for the defeat. “We failed to contain them as they came over us all guns blazing,” said Gurung.
The league now moves to East on Monday where Morang host Nepal Police Club at the Sahid ground in Biratnagar and home team Jhapa take on Three Star Club at the Doma Lal footballground.
