Hon’ble Mrs Radha Kumari Gyawali, Minister for Energy of Nepal met with the high dignitaries of the Electricity of France (EDF) this afternoon in Paris. The meeting was organized by the Embassy of Nepal. During the meeting, the Hon’ble Minister highlighted that the Government of Nepal is making its utmost efforts for creating foreign investment friendly environment in the country and reiterated the commitment to work in partnership with foreign development partners. She said that there were a number projects identified for foreign investments. The high representatives of EDF included its Senior Executive Vice-President, representative based in Bangkok and Regional Business Development Director. H.E. the Ambassador of Nepal to France, senior officials of the Government of Nepal accompanying the Hon’ble Minister, and Embassy officials were also present at the meeting. The Hon’ble Minister also met this evening with the representatives of Nepalese organizations based in Paris including NRNA-NCC France, Maison Culturelle du Nepal, Nepali Ekta Samaj, Tamu Samaj and women’s association PACOFEN. On the occasion, the Hon’ble Minister expressed her pleasure in meeting with the Nepalese community living in France and shared with them that the Government of Nepal is fully committed to making a new inclusive constitution as early as possible through dialogue and consensus with all political forces in Nepal. In honour of the Hon’ble Minister and her delegation, Her Excellency Mrs. Ambika Devi Luintel, Ambassador of Nepal to France organized a dinner this evening at her residence. The Hon’ble Minister leading a six member Nepalese delegation had arrived in Paris yesterday morning on an observation tour to France. The Executive Committee members of Tractebell Company in France had briefed the Hon’ble Minister and the delegation yesterday on the Company’s experience in various countries. On the occasion, the Hon’ble Minister highlighted the various aspects of the investment opportunities in Nepal in the Energy sector, technical expertise, human resource development etc. Ambassador of Nepal to France had also attended the meeting. During the meetings with the Company the Nepalese delegation exchanged views on hydro-power The Nepalese delegation accompanying the Hon’ble Minister includes Director-General of Department of Electricity Development, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, and other senior officials. The Hon’ble Minister was received by the Ambassador of Nepal to France on her arrival at the airport in Paris yesterday.
