Fire victims left in lurch
SAPTARI, APR 11 – The victims of a fire that ravaged Rampura Malhaniya-5 in the district have been left in the lurch as they are yet to get any relief or compensation from the government.
The victims living under the open sky complained that the authorities concerned did not even provide a tent so that they could take shelter from the blistering heat. They said they are compelled to live with hungry stomach as no efforts have been taken to provide them food.
Manoj Kumar Yadav, one of the victims, said they have not had anything to eat apart from some food distributed by lawmaker Umesh Kumar Yadav on Thursday. He said they have not even been able to get safe drinking water as their tube well had dried up after the incident.

Local youths who were preparing to go abroad have also been affected as all their property turned to ashes. A total of 183 houses belonging to 74 families were burned to ashes as the fire broke out from the house of local Dasharath Yadav on Thursday afternoon.
