EU delegates urge parties to work for statute

KATHMANDU, APR 10 – Members of the European Parliament delegation have asked political parties to work constructively for the adoption of a democratic and inclusive constitution.

The four-member delegation during their four-day stay in Nepal met with President Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, CA Chairman Subas Nembang, top leaders of major parties and members of the civil society.

According to a press statement issued by the EU, the delegation welcomed the resumption of talks and assurance by the main political actors that they were ready to work actively to put an end to the current stalemate and further Nepal’s national interests, progress and prosperity. The delegation members also stressed on the longstanding commitment of the EU to support Nepal’s ongoing efforts towards peace and prosperity, the statement reads.
