Dahal requests not to hold CA meet without consensus
KATHMANDU, APR 09 – UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Constituent Assembly Chairman Subas Nembang have held a discussion on Thursday in a bid to end the current deadlock situation seen at the Constituent Assembly.
The meeting held at Chairman Nembang’s quarter at Baluwatar was centered on the CA meeting summoned for April 13. Chairman Nembang had drawn the Dahal’s attention to hold a meaningful dialogue with the ruling parties to forge consensus prior to the CA meet.
Meanwhile, Dahal requested Nembang to create an environment conducive for talks and also urged him not to hold a CA meeting unless the consensus was forged.
“It is not reasonable to hold the CA meeting without forging consensus,” Dahal’s aide Chudamani Khadka said as quoting Dahal in the meeting, “There is no alternative to draft constitution through consensus.”
In response, CA Chair Nembang said that he has not yet fixed any agendas for the upcoming CA meet in a hope that the political parties would forge consensus. “Forge consensus on the disputed issues of constitution writing prior to the CA meet, I will take those agreements as the agendas of CA meeting,” said Nembang.
