Second-rung Maoist leaders initiate for consensus
KATHMANDU, APR 08 – A team of UCPN (Maoist) second-rung leaders led by Krishna Bahadur Mahara have taken initiatives for reaching an agreement in the constitution drafting process with the ruling parties.
The team, on Wednesday, discussed with Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and other NC leaders in Baluwatar in an attempt to reach an agreement prior to the CA meeting scheduled on April 13.
NC Spokesperson Dilendra Prasad Badu, who was present in the meeting, said that the Maoist leaders were for drafting the constitution through talks and consensus. “They urged PM Koirala to initiate for the constitution on consensus basis,” Badu said.
The prime minister, Badu said, in response said he was for clearing the mistrust among parties through agreement and consensus. “I have repeatedly urged for dialogues. Many disputes have been resolved, remaining will also be resolved,” Badu said quoting the PM.
Maoist leaders Barsha Man Pun, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi and Shakti Gauchan were present in the meeting. Likewise, NC leaders Bimalendra Nidhi, Narhari Acharya, Mahesh Acharya, Purna Bahadur Khadka also attended the meeting.
